A while ago I posted one post to a couple of threads in the "Totally Off Topic" section which (IMHO) have been going on far too long, and when I look at "Show new replies to your posts" I see these. Is there any way of unsubscribing to a topic, so I don't see them any more ?

I've just looked at your profile Nick and I can't find the threads you are referring to on the ToT's Board .. the last one you posted on hasn't been replied to since Sunday .. ?
I do know they are now deleted regularly though .. !
But you won't stop them appearing in your Show new replies to your posts until people eventually stop replying.

Hi All
Not sure if this will help if you do not already receive as such.
If you go to Edit Profile, Notifications and Email, then tick the first 2 boxes on the right hand side.
This will allow you when you receive your next e-mail to that topic to un-subscribe.
It is how I do it anyway. Then you can change it back afterwards if you prefer not to have e-mail notification.

I just leave them in "new replies to your posts" and I don't open them. They will only be placed in there once and so you just have a few "rogues" at the bottom of your list.

If it's a ToTB topic and you don't want to do as David has suggested, why not go into the thread and delete your post. Result - no messages

Actually it wasn't the ToT board, it was in the lighter side of the common room - the "Ancestry Top 20" thread. I'll delete my post - it's a pity there's not a better way.
Thanks to everyone who replied
