Deciphering place name somewhere in Inverness
« on: Wednesday 29 April 09 10:49 UTC (UK) »

Hi,

I have an ancestor who was born somewhere in Inverness, but had moved to the Shetlands by the time the censuses started.

I am hoping someone on here might be able to identify the place she gave on a census return below.

I have googled what ancestry has it transcribed as (Willmorock), with no luck and as do not know the area at all, don't know where to start with trying to google variations.

Thanks

I think it's Kilmorack  - I'll have to check the spelling but that's the place  Smiley

Thanks Mum44 and Gadget.  I did think the 'W' was more likely to a K, but the only place I could come up with Kilmarnock which is obviously nowhere near!
