Civil registration started here in Ireland in 1864 so the GRO should have a record. You can search the index to these records at a familysearch : http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#c=1408347;p=2;t=searchable

There's no cross checking facility on the system at the moment - you have to search for the bride and groom and see if the details match up.

Research certs can be ordered from the GRO (www.groireland.ie) using the details listed : name, year/quarter, registration district, volume, page number

Once again thank you for your help I managed to get the B/Cert ordered with your help but I'm having no luck locating the wedding(I do hope there was one) anyway on the B/Cert I ordered she was down as Mrs Turner surely they wouldn't put that if she was never married? isn't it against the law?,Ive tried all the obvious  sites no luck,I thought with her being from Drogheda and him Wales they would marry where she came from anyway many thanks I do appreciate your help  Bernie

If you want to post both their names we can try to search the indexes for you- sometimes the results are a bit temperamental although I think we probably get better results narrowing down the possibilities with a bit of pratice since it's been launched on the LDS Pilot site.

I dont see any Turner marriages near to Dundalk - and none anywhere in Ireland with the first name Llewellyn.

Name: William Llewellyn Turner
Reg district: Mitchelstown
type: marriage
year: 1870
Volume: 4 / Page: 1029

Name: William Llewellyn Turner
reg dist. : Mitchelstown
type: marriage
year: 1870
vol. : 4/ page: 1029

Name: Walter Lewellan TURNER
reg dist.  Belfast
type: marriage
year: 1875
volume: 11 / page: 260

there are a couple of possibles for Mary around the Louth/Meath area :

Name: Mary Brodigan
reg dist.  Carrickmacross
type: marriage
year: 1874

Name: Margaret Brodigan
reg dist.  Drogheda
type: marriage
date : 1870
Volume: 12 / page: 401

and a couple of others that I presume are too late..

Name: Mary Brodigan
reg dist.  Dundalk
type: marriage
Registration date - quarter and year: 1877
volume: 7 / page: 683

Name: Mary Brodigan
reg dist.  Drogheda
type: marriage
year: 1877
Vol : 2 / page: 655

It does happen that names are mis-transcribed or mis-indexed making a cross match impossible - I've come across this on several occasions in my own ancestors. It was just a case of ordering certs for the likely single matches... and watching for clues on the cert to see if middles names, locations etc match up.

could it be possible that they married in Wales ?

what a lovely person helping me like that,Ive tried Wales and even Bradford(where their first child was born) she had a child nearly every year until he ran off with a barmaid!!,Would she have had to be married putting herself down as Mary Turner on the B/Cert? Its so hard to get the Irish details I have been at this Marriage look up for nearly 6 months!!When Mary was left with the wee ones her niece also Mary Brodig an came over from Drogheda to help her she was with Mary when she died aged 25 yrs and brought up all the little ones herself and her new husband whom she met in Wales.I hope Llewellyn did marry her and I feel she was too good for him anyway thanks for your help you are a starx  bernie
