I have a Mary Mordey born 1776 in Sunderland … problem is I’ve never been able to identify her parents as there are two Marys, one born 29 November (Ralph & Frances) and the other 19 December (James & Margaret). Both baptised at Robinson’s Lane or St George’s Presbyterian Meeting House.
Now I’ve just found a pleasingly detailed burial for my Mary including the name and occupation of her husband, so I’m sure it’s her. “age: 67 years 11 months, died 29 Nov 1844”. Do people think this is conclusive proof that she is the daughter of James, as if she’s the other one she would have died on her birthday?
I had favoured Ralph as the father since one of her sons was called Ralph, but there again, she also had a Margaret. I’m also a little bit suspicious about James and wonder if this is an error for Joseph, as there are several baptisms to Joseph & Margaret on IGI, and only the one to James & Margaret. (I can’t find these entries on Durham Records Online.) Also Mary’s first child is baptised Joseph.

That's a very good point, Gaie. No, the birth entries are just from IGI online, perhaps I can try and get hold of the film.
Yes, the burial record was very rewarding! that came from Durham Records Online, I can't find the births there though - they are supposed to have the Robinson Lane ones for that period, but perhaps the IGI batch is two venues combined, and mine are at St George's. Pity, I was looking for a second opinion.
Don't think there's any other way I can easily establish my Mary's parentage - the marriage record unfortunately didn't include fathers' names.

That would be very kind, Gaie, if you are planning a visit. I would be very grateful.
There are five other births recorded there to Joseph and Margaret ( they are all births rather than baptisms): Joseph 1774, Elizabeth 1779, Hannah 1781, and Ralph 1786 & 1787 (date of 14 Feb is the same so may be a double transcription). So there is a gap for Mary, and interestingly IGI has a baptism for her* at Houghton-le-Spring in Jan 1777, an I batch number so not sure of the source.
*parents Joseph & Margaret!
Stan, is there anything you don't know? you are a marvel. As we can see, the events I'm interested in are well before 1825, so we can discount St George's. Strange they aren't showing up on DRO, I must have another go in case I'm doing something wrong.
(Ralph again! Perhaps Ralph senior and James/Joseph were brothers.)

Ah ! Aha !!
I just had another look on DRO and had better luck this time, and lo and behold, they have the Mary born 19 December 1776 as daughter of JOSEPH and Margaret.
So ... do you reckon it's safe to assume she's mine, on the burial record evidence?

I've just been browsing the BTs for Sunderland on the Family Search site, and have by chance proved my theory for the saddest of reasons. Mary, the daughter of Ralph and Frances, was buried on 4 June 1778.
