HI Sarah, First of all many thanks for reply. ,What i was wondering would you be willing to have a look at gravestone in ch yard and see if there are gravestones with the name below on it not a common name so might be worth a look ?? 1901 CENSUS, RICHARD B BALLLARD railway driver age 31 ALICE BALLARD wife 33 and HARRY BALLARD son age 2 all were living at 23 STANWAY ST THEN .. As for that that is all i know of them so an info you find would be really helpful , Richard was my G/G/ Uncle and was born in Leintwardine in Herefordshire. my G/G/ GRANDFATHER moved to Gloucester as to why im right down here ! and as far as i know no Ballard left in HEREFORDSHIRE on my line (graceland) Hello Robin,

Hello Graceland,
I have been to visit Stanway Street and the house is still there, the area mostly the same as when the houses were first built in 1900.
The area is known locally as "Gorse Hill" after a farm which had been situated on this site. I had been wrong to suggest St Matthews, as this is too far away. The nearest Church could have been one of two, both situated on Chester Road. http://www.streetmap.co.uk/newmap.srf?x=380305&y=395485&z=0&sv=M32+0GL&st=2&pc=M32+0GL&mapp=newmap.srf&searchp=newsearch.srf
The Methodist Church is still there today and indicated on the map at the junction on Wesley Street and Chester Road. The other church was knocked down about 18 months ago and now has private flats on the site. I can not remember what the Church was called at the moment.
There were no gravestones to see at the Methodist Church Sorry
Regards
Sarah
