Poplars in Gedling
« on: Thursday 30 April 09 17:21 UTC (UK) »

I have a death certificate for 1924 where the deceased person's address is given as Poplars, Victoria Street, Gedling and the informant is described as "occupier" of the same address.
Does anyone know whether this is likely to have been some sort of institution or just a private house?
I haven't been able to find out anything on line though the houses there don't appear to be large.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks,

On Google Street View there are two Victorian Villas and an old detatched house. Judging by the new houses a lot of the old ones must have gone now.

On  old-maps.co.uk  it lists a Birch House, so possible names of trees were used then?
