Edith m stephens married Hugh Ashby o'callaghan in kingston middlesex surrey.in 1912
they had ____ in 1913 in Surbiton Surrey my father in law. then ____ in 1914,in Bradford and then the family moved to dereham norfolk in about 1920. they then had another child, _____ in 1921.
that is all we now about her, can anyone help.
Hugh came from Southampton.he and was born in 1888 in the 1901 census Hugh was in dream with his family.
Hugh died in norfolk in 1930. Edith died in south shields i think in 1961.
Charles died in norfolk in 1996. and William died in the 1970s in norfolk and i think Rhoda died in the 1980s in Durham. i now that it was before Charles

If you send for the marriage certificate for Hugh and Edith, that will give you her approximate age in 1912, and also her father's name and occupation.

It should then be easier to find her on the 1901 census and track the family back from there  Wink

The reference is Q2. 1912  Kingston  Vol. 2a  Page 953

You can order certificates on line on this site;

http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/

Just follow the instructions  -  it's quite easy  Wink

Hi Car, I don't know if this will help but I found an Edith Stevens born abt 1883 in Kingston on the 1891 census. Her parents were James and Charlotte. Regards Poppyann

thanks for that it could be as Hugh was born 1888. so she could be a bit older than him. and it would fit in, with them getting married.

can you send me the census for 1891, as it could be her. she had sisters i think. as my inlaws do not now. all they now is that there dad had aunts and uncles but do not now which side of the family they were on. as my father-in-law did not take about his family much.

have now got the marriage certificate, for Hugh married on the15th of June 1912, Hugh Ashby o'callaghan age 27 to Edith Mary stephens age 30, they had not been married before,at the register office in kingston he lived at 161 or 167 Brighton road surbiton, and she lived at 157(i think its a 5 could be a 6) on the same road, Charles partick o'callaghan was his father, and john stephens was her father, Charles was railway Clark and john was a carperter. kitty o'callaghan and daisy stephens. were witness's
