our lady's rc church, celeveland st birkenhead
« on: Friday 01 May 09 20:01 UTC (UK) »

am trying to find out about the history of the church, I believe my mothers husband helped save the live of the parish priest during the blitz in Birkenhead, but sadly my mother is no longer with us so I can't find out any info re Birkenhead during the blitz. I googled and came up with an out of stock book on amazon so any suggestions will be gratefully received.

Try below.  This is the main catholic church for Birkenhead these days and should be able to give you more information.

Not sure if it's the same one, but:-

During the Blitz of 1941 May 1st-4th Church of Our Lady, Price Street received a direct hit. Canon Tallon killed.

Taken from "Birkenhead at War 1939-45".
