Hi everyone, could anyone assist me in doing a look up please. I'm really struggling to find my gg grandmother Catherine Mc/Mackenzie born around 1819/21 in Stornoway, married to Donald Macaulay 02/01/1844 stornoway. From death cert in 1891 her father was Roderick Mackenzie and mother was Catherine Mackenzie.

Hello Talia,
From my records, transcribed from records, I have Catherine married to Donald as you said living in Cooper's Lane Stornoway. Donald was either a sailor or a tailor. It is difficult to read.
Catherine was born 3 Apr 1819 and Christened 15 Apr 1819.
Father is given as Roderick, a cooper but mother's name is not given in baptismal record.
I've checked for a marriage for Donald Mackenzie from records starting in 1793 thro' to 1824 without success.

Hi Keelbec, firstly sorry I have taken so long to reply to your post, been out of commission lately and unable to use my laptop. Thank you for your reply, the information you sent ties up with what info I have. I have been able to find their marriage/death certs but I'm really struggling to find both of their births. Could I ask where you sourced the information re Catherine's birth and baptism as I have been looking for a while and couldn't find it.

My source is the birth and marriage register for Stornoway parish, which I transcribed together with the census returns 1841-1891.
