Sarah Parr/Purr
« on: Thursday 30 April 09 12:30 UTC (UK) »

would some kind person out there be able to help me?  I'm trying to find out when my Gt Gt Grandmother Sarah Parr/Purr died.  She lived in Chippenham, Cambs, for a time after marrying William Parr in 1868 when she was a widow.   She's on the 1871 census as either Pan or Purr, with William, her stepson James and daughter Agnes [my gt grandmother] but I can't find any mention of her after the 1871 census.  I'd like to find out when she died, where she died, and if possible, her last resting place.  She was born Sarah Bouch in Kings Lynn in 1823ish, and her first husband was Stephen Isaacson,  he died in 1863.  I'm assuming she stayed in the area until she died.

Here's hoping

kind regards

She may well have stayed in Cambridgeshire. I know there is a family Isaacson at Bottisham Cambs in the 19th early 20th century, to which I am distantly connected. The BMDs at Cambridgeshire record office CAMDEX should have her if she died in the county.

thanks for this.  Does this mean we are very distantly related?  I've looked on CAMDEX where there's more than 1 Sarah Parr/Purr, but as I don't know when she died, it could be any of them.  Thanks for your info anyway.  I'm sure Bottisham figures in the family history somehow.  I know her granddaughter Agnes Rosa was in service in Bottisham, and her daughter Agnes died in Bottisham in 1940.

Many thanks, kind regards

But if you click on each name you get the age at death, and as you know she was born c1823 you should be able to work out if she's a possible or not.

But only a dozen of Cambs parishes are included in the death index, although it does include Bottisham up to 1884. You're probably better off looking at www.freebmd.org.uk and limit the search to Cambs

It does indeed Issy, and thanks Dabvid for the info. The penny hadn't dropped with me over Camdex.Hopefully I'll find a missing relative now.
