« on: Tuesday 05 May 09 05:02 UTC (UK) »

peter ford to elizabeth ambler in mar quarter 1858

im sorry i don't have the exact dates for the firsy two marriages.
if anyone can help out with any information in the records it would be great. thank you.

thank you your very kind. i was a little stumped when i saw david had said that his father was richard, but it must have been an error, as he had a few uncle's and a grandfather called richard. david's dad was joseph, i believe. when i get a birth cert i will know for sure!!
your very nice and helpful, thank you.

On the marriage entry it said Richard was the father of David.

Have you found David on the earlier census records?   That might show him with his family.  It seems odd to give the wrong name to the vicar.

david's mother was a widow on the census for 1871, the first census he appears on. his mother was mary wright, b.1826, alwoodley. she was with a joseph crossfield on previous census, she married him in 1852/3. i just think someone gave a different answer. david had uncles on both sides called richard, and a grandafther as well. joseph died in 1870.

Ah.  I have been looking at that family on the census as it was the only young David of the right age in 1871.  Cannot find his birth under Crossfield though.  Was he registered as Wright?  Mary is with her own parents in 1851 and there is a child of two named Hannah Wright as visitor.   Is that the right lot?

yeah, that's them. hannah was born before her parents married. she is with her father in 1851.

david's birth is under crosfield. they liked to leave out an 's' every now and then.
