no, no, no.

Perfect practice makes perfect.  I'm just a former PREfect, so I aint perfect but I just want to know how to put

hello people in code

Code:
hello people

I think I'm figuring it out, TA to the YT's rather than the Techknows.

Aha.............so, if I'm getting this right

When I see posts with 'site' in blue, they've hit the hash button, put in the link (code) then hit hash again and it comes up as the blue SITE..............!!!

Is that right??

No, completely the wrong way round !  Smiley

Putting (code) around certain texts (/code) prevents the BBS software from interpreting the code.

It's really only of much use in forums where they discuss code, which would otherwise would never be seen properly, because it would always be decoded by the BBS software.

If you don't use the code button, then typing the text within the code box .....

Code:

[b]Hello[/b]

[i]Hello[/i]

[u]Hello[/u]

[s]Hello[/s]

[glow=red,2,300]Hello[/glow]

[move]Hello[/move]

would only appear as.....

Hello

Hello

Hello

Hello

Hello

Hello

Which would not be of much use if I was trying to discuss the code itself, because it otherwise disappears.

Any clearer now ?  Smiley

Code:
Umm, Nick,

So why is this button available?  its not explained anywhere on the threads mentioned earlier in this posting,

If you think I should make this thread COMPLETED please let me know cause I am really none the wiser, except to understand that that button is useless to me, and probably to most chatters.

Cheers, from OZ

Hi Wini,

I agree that I don't really need to know, but I have figured out that

Bulletin board system = BBS

As per Wiki,

Hi KHP, I think I will stay clear of that code button too.

Code:

Yes, BBS = Bulletin Board System = Forum

Not wishing to sound patronising, but if you don't understand what the # button is for, you probably won't ever need it.

Don't bother ... I don't really need to know !
