Burials in Long Whatton
« on: Tuesday 05 May 09 12:42 UTC (UK) »

Hello

I noticed on another thread that burials for Long Whatton may be available on a Nottingham reference CD.  I therefore wondered whether anybody could help me with burial/death details on the following persons:

Francis Fox - death Mar Q 1864 - Long Whatton (born abt 1781)
Mary Fox - death between 1807 and 1821 in Long Whatton (first wife of Francis - not sure of birth year although probably abt 1782)
Elizabeth Fox - death between 1851 and 1861 in Long Whatton although probably Dec Q 1851 (second wife of Francis - born abt 1781)
Richard Fox - death Jun Q 1893 - Long Whatton (born abt 1822)

If anyone can help me to bottom out these details i would be most grateful.

Thanks in advance.

Hi TB

Long Whatton isn't on the Notts burial CD, but it is covered on the NBI 1813 - 1887.  There is nothing for a Francis or Elizabeth Fox.

Sorry

I don't think i have found any useful entries on the NBI when i have looked at it at the local library!

Hi

Have you tried the Leicestershire board? Long Whatton is not in Nottinghamshire as it is near Loughborough.

Truebrit - sorry can't find those Fox's.

have looked in the LW burial index 1813 - 2000; L'boro indices for Mary & Richard. L'boro index for francis & Eliz not there - might be being used elsewhere. also nothing in the L'boro cemetery index although there are Fox's there.

Thanks for looking.

I know that they were all living in Long Whatton around the time of their death, according to Census' and marriage records.  Also the post 1837 ones have a Loughborough entry as the District on FreeBMD so i can't be far away!  May need to give more thought to this and widen my search.  Any ideas gratefully received!
