Would be grateful for as much help as I can get re: GALLETLYS living in Perthshire.
I have a Peter GALLETLY who married Marjory McLauchlan St. Martins Perthshire where they also had a son John & daughter Elizabeth (7mths) before departing on the "Glentanner" for New Zealand arriving at Lyttelton 3 Oct. 1857.
Peter was also born in St. Martins 31 Mar 1830 & married Marjory 1 Dec 1854
in Killspindie Perthshire. Peter's father: Alexander GALLETLY born 6 Apr 1800 Perthshire. Mother: Margaret Gray born: 1806 Perthshire. Know Peter
had siblings who also came to NZ.
Any help on the above would be wonderful as I want to learn as much as I can about them all for my new forum apart from my tree.

I have a William Gellatly b. 1837 Scone d. 1899 Perth Father father John mother Isabel Anderson. I don't know of a connection but your Peter would probably have been a contemporary. I pass it on for what it's worth as I've done very little research on them except that William did marry a great grand aunt of mine.

You have jiggled my memory & remember now that some of the Galletly family I'm connected to did come from Scone.
Fab. will look into your William's family.
Could you please tell me who he married & when.

William married Susan Wighton in 1860 and he worked initially as a farm labourer but latterly as a railway inspector. They lived in Perth and he died in 1899 and she in 1923 both are in Westhill Cemetery, Perth along with a daughter Mary who died as a child of two.
As to the rest of the Galletlys I'm afraid you're on your own!

Thank you for taking the time to answer my last query....don't ring a bell infortunately but worth taking note of. Much appreciated.
Here's hoping some who have GALLETLYs in their trees see this posting and can add details. Believed there was quite a few Galletlys in Perth but perhaps other spellings!!
Must be some out there. Waiting in eager anticipation.
