Hi
Looking for a baptism of Hester/Esther Head, born Burwash about 1790. She marries George Balcombe in 1810 and is listed as 'of this parish'. Census returns give her birthplace as Burwash.

I cant find her baptism with my resources but hopefully someone else wil come up with it 
Interestingly if you click on the batch of her marriage to George and just enter Head there are only 3 marriages that come up.
One is;
John HEAD/Sarah STONEHAM
17 April 1786, Burwash, Sussex.
Possible parents?
Just a suggestion to keep in mind.

Hi Mark
I had a look at the baptisms on the Sussex Family History Group website and unfortunately a search on Hester Head brings up no results.
I looked through the Burwash baptisms and found a Hetty 1786 and an Elizabeth 1791?  There are a few Heads at the time.

Hetty Head baptised 5 November 1786 at Burwash, St Bartholomews to John and Susannah Head.
Elizabeth Head baptised 3 July 1791 to John and Susan Head. Possibly sisters

On the Sussex Marriage Index there are no marriages for a Hetty Head, there are some for Elizabeth but none that stand out instantly as being the same Elizabeth from Burwash.

Thank you all so much.
Hetty Head is a few years too old, as her age is pretty consistent on census returns and death certificate. Would an Elizabeth have become an Esther/Hester?
Perhaps she was a relation of John Head who was born outside of Burwash but came to live with the family and thought of herself as being born in Burwash?
Another mystery! I have too many!

Hi Mark,
Hetty/Hester/Esther/Elizabeth/Betty can all be inter- changable 
I am sure we have the right one but it is up to you whether you agree.
1841 Census she is c. 1796
1851 census c. 1791
A few years out in age is not to be worried about, as if the spouse was older often they dropped their age.
Also George and Hester named their first child Sussanah in 1811 and their 1st son John
I presume Hester died Dec 1863 and George Dec 1871 aged 82
