Census information Crown Copyright, from www.nationalarchives.gov.uk

McLaughlin/McLoughlin
« on: Tuesday 05 May 09 20:43 UTC (UK) »

Hi, I am having trouble finding out any information or records for my family. My great great grandfather was born in Tullard parish of Leck, Strabane in 1869 he was Peter McLaughlin and his father was Andrew, mother Catherine nee Diermott, but I have been unable to find any further records for them. I have tried to find siblings and a marriage record for Andrew & Catherine but have not been successful... Does anyone have any suggestions where i can go from here.  I am not living in Ireland so i only have access to online records.  Any help would be appreciated.

One child listed in IGI (www.familysearch.org)-
Alice McLaughlin born 30 June 1866 Newtown Stewart district, Tyrone, Ireland daughter of Andrew McLaughlin and Catherine McDermott

Do you know what religion the family were? civil registration of Catholic marriages began in 1864 (other marriages from 1845).

You can search index to civil registrations here (free) just in case they married either in Registry Office (more common than most people realise) or a catholic ceremony (1864-c1866).
