Hi I am trying to locate where a Thomas Winfield was in 1851. He was born in Derbyshire (I believe) in January 1822. In Census 1841,he seems to be living with his sister Sarah Fretwell (nee Sarah Winfield) . His occupation Boatman. I think he married a Maria Cross in Dec 1849 but she died in 1850. He remarried in 1852. Wife was Ann Winfield (nee Ann White). It is possible that he had a son William born 1844? Elizabeth born 1853 Mary born 1855 Harriet born 1857 Rosamond born 1860 Census 1861 gives him living at Awsworth Road, Ilkeston.
Trust you can help. Henery

Well done Tati
The information you supplied about Thomas Winfield in 1851 in my opinion is spot-on. The fact that he is a widower and has a William (his son) with him in Ilkeston Derbyshire. Convinces me that the enumerator misspelled the name Winfield to Wingfield. This is the second time I have encountered the wrong spelling of this surname. Many thanks for solving this puzzle for me.
