Hello list,
I am researching above names from the Cookstown area - they were mostly farmers, although some worked in the linen industry. Mostly Presbyterian, although the Artt's may have been Church of Ireland.
Townland/Parish: Kempton/Campton - Derrycrummy, Derryloran; Boone - Drumcraw, Derryloran; Art - Killybearn, Derryloran; Murray - Cloghog, Derryloran.
Does anyone have connections? I have a lot of info, going back to c1778.

Hiya Eddie,
I spotted Daniel Boone. http://www.americanwest.com/pages/boone.htm I note he left England in 1717 but I feel he must have Irish connections. I found one in Griffiths Valuation of Dublin 1848-51. Maybe the others did not like Ireland and had returned to England or emigrated to the New World. Boone is an old French name. The fact that Daniels father was a weaver makes me wonder about Huguenot connections. They arrived in Ireland in 1590. Many did not like the place. After a couple of years they returned to England or moved elsewhere. http://www.xroyvision.com.au/singleton/singtext/text2.htm

Hi Chris,
Thanks for the info. As yet I've found no links to Daniel Boone in my family.
There are Boone's outside Magherafelt but no link found there either.
Cheers,
Eddie

Dear Eddie
i came across your message when doing my own family history. My name is Boone and I did some research about 10 years ago into my father's family. My great grandfather John Boone lived at Drumcraw, Derryloran Parish. Isaac Art was his son's best man. John Boone's father was William Boon but I haven't managed to get further back than that in the records. My father has a cousin Mitchell Campton so all the people you mention seem to be related to me.
I would we really interested in any information you might have.
best wishes, Catherine

hi catherine and welcome to rootschat
i checked eddie's profile and he was online recently so he should see your message. if you make 2 more posting's you'll be able to send him a personal message yourself; sometimes you don't get notification's of a reply but you always get told of a personal message getting sent. just post anything
tony
you should take your phone number off your post catherine,it's best if you send it in your personal message, that way it's safe and it's not open to everybody.

Hi Tony
Thank you very much indeed for your message. I took your advice and modified my post to remove the phone number. It's good to know this site is alive and well!
Thanks again, Catherine
