Nervous breakdown
« on: Thursday 07 May 09 06:05 BST (UK) »

This is driving me nuts.

Birth for James McLaren (according to IGI) 13 Apr 1768 Callander.
Parents - John McLaren and Helen McQueen.

Can find no marriage for these two.

According to IGI James's brother Archibald married a Helen McQueen in 1796 at Callander.

Have hunted SP and IGI to no avail, could it be a mis-transcription Huh

Help please...patvp

Thanks for that Gortonboy -
Wonder if anyone can tell me why the difference between McLaren and McLeran.
Looking for children of this couple on the IGI for Callander found the following -
John McLeran and Helen McQueen
Helen 1774, Janet 1760, James 1776, Donald 1762.

John McLaren and Helen McQueen
Archibald 1766, Catherine 1764, Margaret 1769, James 1768.

Are they all the one family Huh

May be just as well for other searchers to check both spellings.  Huh

Wonder if anyone can tell me why the difference between McLaren and McLeran.
Either a transcription error, or just a spelling variation used in those days. It's very common to find slightly different spellings!
