James John 1851
« on: Tuesday 16 June 09 08:14 UTC (UK) »

Please can anyone find James John(s) baptised  1829 in Newport.  Age 12 in 1841 Census.  He left Newport and probably went to Australia in 1853. He may have embarked on HMS Herald in Plymouth 1853 giving his birth place as Plymouth  but later on his marriage he gave his birth place as Liverpool! So it looks as though he was still in the UK somewhere in 1851. If anyone finds  him I should love to know.
Regards.

Hi  Smiley

The nearest that I can find is this one:

Farnworth, Widnes
HO107/2194 F 92 P 49

William Hartland, 39, labourer, b. Worcestershire, ?Hambury
(his family and lodgers)
James Johnes,lodger,  22, labourer, b. Wales

John/Johns etc. is very much a South Wales surname in my experience.
