All very strange! Was William who married Judith Setchell a widower? ie husband of Elizabeth Bell. If so where was Elizabeth Childs buried as I can't see it? And did they have any children as there are no baptisms. If he wasn't a widower what happened to William and Elizabeth?

And your William and Louisa had plenty of kids, yet I can't see baptisms for any of them. Were they non-conformist?

This is not Child's play!!!

David

PS The William Childs born 1778 that ricky found is an Ancestry error. His age was 43, not 63 as transcribed, and he was the husband of Judith.

It's only if you look at it in conjunction with 1851 that the anomaly strikes home, and I couldn't really blame Ancestry as it's a pretty poor 4!

Huh  Could they be the William (age 45) & Elizabeth (50) Childs, both not born in county, living in Little Stukeley, Hunts, with children John (25) not born in county, plus William (15) Thomas (15) Mary (14) Ann ( 8 ) & Elizabeth (5) - these born in county

1841 census... HO107 / 449 Folio: 10 Page: 15

On IGI there are baptisms for John 14/1/1816 & Sarah 28/10/1817; parents William & Elizabeth Childs at Tilbrook, Beds - which is only down the road from Dean towards Kimbolton.

just a thought

regards
John

on 1851 still in Little Stukeley, Hunts is

William Childs, head, age 57, born Tilbrook; Farm labourer
Elizabeth Childs, wife, age 62, born Rance, Northants       ? Raunds ?
Betsy Childs, daughter, age 15, born Little Stukeley; servant

HO107/ 1748; Folio 696; Page 7

That makes Elizabeth born about 1789 ...so do we have a baptism of Elizabeth Bell in Raunds ? as per Carol's statement ... "I think she could of been born 1790 maybe in raunds " - I've put a look up on the Northants Board

... but we do have a William Childs baptised 16 Feb 1794 Tilbrook, to parents John Childs & Sarah

but we won't know if it is him who married Elizabeth Bell at Dean in 1815 unless there are any clues on the marriage entry on the parish records - such as he was from Tilbrook, or she was from Raunds, or a witness may be a family member.

From Tilbrook PR
baptism on 16 Feb 1794 of William son of John & Sarah Childs

marriage on 25 Mar 1793 of John Childes to Sarah Buzzingham, witnesses John Austin & Chris Sibley, this latter person seems to witness most marriages - parish official maybe ?
