Adoption register look up at PRO .....please

Please if any kind rootschatter is visiting the PRO could they do a quick lookup on the adoption register.

June Davies born 28 /6/ 1923.....not sure where yet was adopted by the time she was 6 years of age and name changed to Winifred Ann Mears.

She ended up living in South Africa so need to ascertain as to where the adoption took place.

Many thanks in anticipation for any time spent.

    There is an adoption register index, held at the PRO, used to be held at the FRC, and in the past have found it both useful and informative.

The index starts in 1927 when official adoption records began. She may not be listed.

I'll be at Kew next month and will check to see.

I've looked at the register (which starts 1927), there are no entries for June Davies or Winifred Ann Mears.
