Perhaps you shouldn't 'Complete' your thread yet.
Someone may find a tidbit later.

I am helping my girlfriend's mother (a 2nd mother to me) trying to track her great grandparents, who emigrated to New Zealand.  I've managed to track the family in NZ and the trail has led me to Midlothian.

John McFarlane Blackie, b: 1845 in Dalkeith, Midlothian married Margaret Smith, b: 1841 Of Hunterfield, Midlothian.  Their children were Dorothy Blackie, John William Blackie, Kate Blackie, Margaret Jack Blackie, Mary Blackie, Anne Blackie, Rachell Blackie and Walter Blackie.  I don't have John and Margaret's marriage date or the date of the children's births.

I am trying to find any census info for the family so I can determine when to start my search for emigration records to NZ.  Any help would be really appreciated.
I live in Mosgiel, New Zealand, and I have quite a bit of information that I have researched through microfiche records in the public library here in Mosgiel.
My father's mother (my Grandmother) was Katie (Catherine) Blackie, born 23/2/1872 in Airdrie Scotland (Rewyards, Landward). She died at the age of 62 in Fairfield, Dunedin, New Zealand on the 3/12/1933. (at the time it was stated she had lived 50 years in New Zealand.)
She married William Halsey 3/4/1896 at the registrary office in Mosgiel.
I also have more information on the other children.
Maybe direct contact would be easier. I would be happy to supply my e-mail address outside of this column.

I appreciate your response.  I would very much like to know more about this family - as I'm researching Kate Blackie's line also.

I don't like leaving my email address here, however, will write it this way ... it is (*) then it's a gmail address.

Looking forward to corresponding.

Regards
Helen

How do I get information to you?
I apparently am not allowed to give personal messages. I only linked up in answer to your query.
The information is more than one brief comment.

Hi there,  Yes, I know what you mean, I was given a message telling me that I couldn't leave an email address here.  I was given instructions to go to the top of the screen - where it says "you have x new messages" and click on this link.  This apparently take you to a personal message section.  I did this and sent you a message, but you apparently didn't receive.

I'm dying to make contact as you are also researching Katie Blackie's line and would love to receive/exchange information.

As mentioned in my previous email, I have a gmail address and it's an easy one to work out as --------------------------

It's frustrating, but I have to figure out a way as I'm in Christchurch and you have the Mosgiel details for the family (which I've been searching for).  There are a number of Blackie families in Otago, and I'm getting quite confused working out who is who, so I really do need your help.

Regards
Helen

Hi both

Now Merv has posted 2 messages, he/sh should be able to send you a PM with the e-mail. Also, he/she should be able to receive personal messages (up to 5 I think) without having problems.

If you are having problems, I don't mind acting as a go between - you could each send me your e-mails in PMs - by clicking on the little green scroll under my sunflower avatar - I can then pass them on to the other.

Regards
