Seeking the people who made me what I am.....

burial/cremation records Chatham
« on: Sunday 05 July 09 16:34 UTC (UK) »

Hi. I'm trying to discover the burial/cremation place of Kathleen Davis, formerly Haynes, nee Dixon, who died in 1984. Her death was registered in Chatham, 4th quarter, but I don't know whether she was buried or cremated and which church/crematorium was used. Is there any online resource I can use to help me, or is it a case of visiting Chatham in person? Thanks for any advice, Shumagh

Hi Shumagh

Medway council hold the records for their own cemeteries but it looks as if they charge £10 http://www.medway.gov.uk/index/community/burials/cemeteries.htm

That is, of course, assuming that she lived in Medway ie. that she didn't just die in hospital there and live elsewhere or perhaps had a burial space reserved elsewhere Huh

Hi Shumagh

I knew my grandparents were cremated and I e-mailed the crematorium with the date and they checked the book of remembrance for me and e-mailed me a copy of the entry - at no charge and fantastic service.

It may be that if she was cremated there could have been an entry in the book?  I e-mailed crematorium.cemeteries@medway.gov.uk

Good luck with your search
