Help totally confused :(

Hi I have hit a slight problem with my family tree.  Esther Warburton ( fryer) and John Warburton married 21-11-1880.  3 children John 22-9-1881, Mathew 16-12-1885 and Alfred ?-?-1888. John senior died 25-10-1890 but after this I have at least 2 children born William 1895 don't know who father is haven't got birth cert, also Robert I think born 1901 on the baptist record this says no father named so I'm a bit unsure if this one is esther nee fryer or not, but then Mary Jane Warburton born 1-1-1902 father is named on birth cert as john warburton mother esther nee fryer, but I think Mary Jane died a few months later. I am so confused i don't know if I am following the right line or wether there is 2 Esther Warburtons ( fryer)

John Warburton Junior is my g8x2 grandad. I have been to the local archive and most of the information matches, dates even addresses its the 2 or 3 that seem to have been born afterJohn Warburton senior died.

I have the same problem with my Middlesbrough ancestors.   Lots of kids born after the husband died.  Must be a "boro" problem!!  I have given up hoping to find who their father was.    Could have been anyone.  Did think it might be the lodger she took in but I cannot prove it as there is no father on the birth certificates.   It sounds as if Esther may have been economical with the truth with Mary Jane.

Actually I see that in 1891 she is living with her brother Matthew Fryer but there is also a lodger there!  In fact there are two so take your pick......

wouldn't if have just been easier to wed the lodger she was a widow and I thought she would have put father unknown instead of her dead husband. Its quite worrying really I know that grandmothers sometimes took on their sons and daughters children, but I don't even think that is the case either. Well I will just have to dig a bit deeper and see if she did marry again.
