Mary Vale
« on: Saturday 09 May 09 18:22 UTC (UK) »

I would be very grateful if anyone has any tips on how I can find out the name of my Great-Grandmother's mother.
My Great-Grandmother was born in 1827 according to her death record so I cannot get it off her birth certificate. I have managed to find out that her father's name was William off the marriage record for her on IGI records but I have been unable to find her christening/birth record on there.  According to the census records I have found for her she was born in Tenbury.  Unfortunately by the time the census records started in 1841 William was living on his own.

Does Williams occupation on marriage cert. match with 1841 census? it could have changed by the time of Mary's marriage, but could
help to correctly identify family in 1841.

Jacqueline, I don't think the marriage certificate would be of much help to me as I know her father was William and I know the 1841 Census record I have found is his but unfortunately it would appear that my Great Great-Grandmother had passed away by then.  As my Great Grandmother was born before 1837 I cannot get a birth certifcate for her to find out what her mother's name and maiden name were.

Just noticed the area,

This one looks good for the area, less than 5 miles from Tenbury.

MARY VALE.

WILLIAM VALE.
SUSANNAH ROGERS.

Sorry about the duplicate, I am new to the site and originally posted it on the Worcesteshire site which is where Tenbury comes under on some sites, then I noticed you had Tenbury under Herefordshire which is why I then posted it again.

Jim
Thank you for that, I think you could be right, unfortunately I am not familiar with the area although when I visit the U.K. I am hoping to visit the area so hopefully I may be able to purchase a map.
