A member of my family SARAH BOYLE 19 emigrated to New Zealand on the "Canterbury" from London Sept 1863 arriving in NZ January 1864.
In October 1865 she married THOMAS MILLLAR. Thomas hailed from Ballyblack & had sailed on the same ship to NZ in 1862 as Sarah's brother Henry Boyle.
Henry claimed to have been born Newtownards about 1838.
Along with a few other clues it appears that quite a few families from Bally black and Grey Abbey area emigrated in the 1860s and all settled in the same area in Canterbury NZ.
Questions!
1. Have the Parish registers for the Presbyterian church of Bally Black been filmed/transcribed?
2. If so where might I seek the information?
3. I am looking for a marriage of Alexander Boyle to Lucinda nee Sloan and the Baptisms of their children viz
Alexander born c.1825
William Henry born c. 1838
Margaret born c. 1840
Sarah born c.1844
Mary born c.1845
There may have been other children born between Alexander and William Henry of whom I am unaware.
I'd be very grateful for any help/advice.

Civil registration of Catholic marriages (also births and deaths) in Ireland started 1864 and other marriages from 184. Index to civil registrations now online (free):

Ballyblack is the name of the townland and there might be several possible churches the family attended (including churches in Newtownards).
Presbyterian churches are grouped into Presbyteries and records are not really cetralised (only Church of Ireland and Roman Catholic churches have parishes- which are different from the civil parishes).
If you know the name of the church you are looking for the LDS have microfilmed many registers and you might find something listed in the online catalogue at www.familysearch.org.

Many thanks especially for the last clue - the Proni Index, whcih I shall get onto tomorrow! The others have not been fruitful so far as the dates are about the time the adults were sailing to NZ!
