A little confused and probably dumb- complete
« on: Sunday 10 May 09 12:06 UTC (UK) »

Apart from Parish Registries back in 1837 there was a register office in the district to register the birth of a child? And that is what they use when you go to the BDM office to get a birth certificate, right?
Because when I got the parish registries the D.O.B was not there but when I got the certificate it was on there.  So I’m wondering where their information comes from.

What was the name and what was the date of birth?

Civil registration, done at the local register office, started in July 1837, and this will show the date of birth, the date of the marriage or the date of death

The parish register, which remember is a church book, records the date of baptism, with very occasionally the date of birth in the margin, the date of a marriage, and the date of burial
