Solihull district
« on: Saturday 23 May 09 16:22 UTC (UK) »

Hello,

Still looking for my Smith family in Birmingham area.

Have found a death for a Jane H Smith in 1942 born in 1868 in the Solihull district on the GRO indexes.

Could someone tell me which towns etc come into the Solihull district in that time, please.

Hope someone can help,
Thank you

This is what Genuki says,  it would be Solihull Urban:

Thank for that, but I was wondering which towns & villages are included in the district, not which district Solihull is in......if you get what I mean.!!!!

I am trying to find out where she could have been living to have had her death registered in the Solihull district!!!

I will order the death cert when I can & hope that it could be the right Jane Hannah, but in the mean time was trying to find out places that would have been included in that district to look for churches where she could have been buried etc!!!
Thanks again

The list says what Solihull Urban district covers:

"before 1932 see Elmdon; Hampton in Arden; Knowle; Lapworth; Nuthurst;
Packwood; Sheldon; Solihull; Tanworth." Some areas may have been split.

1974 I assume the district became the same as that of Metropolitan Borough of Solihull. This page shows what the MBC was formed from.

In Genuki there is a gazetter that you can check in conjunction with the list of registration district.
