John Chambers- born abt 1767-Guernsey Channel Island-died Portsea- 1884

I am looking for any & all information about a John Chambers -born abt 1767 Guernsery died abt June 1884 Portsea Island Hampshire.

John married Sarah Snuggs 1827 in Alverstoke according to the Pallot's marriage record

(It is possible that he was a mariner )

Children:
Ann ( b. 1831)-married William Smith
Charles (b. 1835)
Henry (b. 1839)
Richard ( b. 1851)
(maybe more children?)

Would like to know who John & Sarah (Snuggs) Chambers' parents were? Can anyone help?

No luck with John though

Can I suggest you post a lookup for his birth on the Channel Island board.  There may be local resources available that somebody with more knowledge of that area could help you with

1797 seems to be his favourite birthyear on the censuses I've looked at and it was St Peter Guernsey as the location

Depending how interested you are in Sarah Snuggs siblings (try saying that quickly after a few drinks!!) - a parent search on the IGI shows quite a few little Snuggs born to Charles and Rebecca

PARENT SEARCH ON IGI

www.familysearch.org - On home page - click on  “Advanced Search” to the right of the SEARCH button

Select “International Genealogical Index” from the left hand menu

Input fathers name and surname BUT only put mothers christian name as not all entries have the maiden name

REGION – select British Isles from the menu

COUNTRY – select England

COUNTY (will appear when you select COUNTRY)  – select Hampshire

Click SEARCH
