I have James Russell born 5th April 1804 in Glenbuck, Muirkirk, Ayrshire, source IGI extracted local record.

He Married Barbara Smith bc1807 Linkeyburn, Muirkirk, on the 25th Jan 1828 in Glenbuck. Source IGI extracted local record

Children:
Barbara Russell born 22 Jul 1829 in Linkeyburn Source IGI extracted local record.
Robert Russell born 20 Jan 1832 in Auchinleck. Source IGI extracted local record.
Jean Russell born 8 Jul 1834 in Catchyburn. Source IGI extracted local record.
Mary Russell born 30 May 1836 in Catchyburn. Source IGI extracted local record.
Charmie Russell bc 1839 in Scotland. Source 1851 Census Toxteth Park, Lancashire.
William Russell bc1841 in Scotland. Source 1851 Census Toxteth Park, Lancashire.
James Russell bc 1847 in Scotland. Source 1851 Census Toxteth Park, Lancashire.

On the 1851 Census for Toxteth Park, Lancashire  James 1804 is listed as a widower, occupation Fireman in Steamer

I think that I found Robert 1832 on the 1851 Census for Newchurch, Lancashire, listed as Lodger occupation Tailor.

Information found on Ancestry has Barbara Smith's death in 1847 in West Derby, Lancashire.

I have not been able to find any more information on this family and hope that someone can help me.

Thanks for your help, trust Barbara to use her maiden name when hubby is not there.

On the 1851 census for Toxteth Park Robert is working on a steamer so presume that he wandered and will be hard to find on any census.

Elspeth was listed as Charmie on the 1851 census for Toxteth Park (I think that they were looking into the future to confuse the researchers finding them) Undecided

Barbara Smith died in Toxteth Park Sept 1847 (source Free BMD) which causes a problem because James bc 1847 in Scotland whether Scotland was automaticaly added by the enumerator or not will probably be sorted by further research on him but IGI for Lanarkshire and Lancashire shows no results.

Again thanks for your help and I will have to move across the border to see what I can find in England and mark this topic as completed for Scotland  Smiley.
