Hi again
Just trying to tie up some loose ends.
* I am still looking for George Wellington’s marriage to Helen/Ellen.
I have been following this girl…Helen Mary Davis …as in the Censuses Helen/Ellen always has a middle initial “M”…. I have her in 1841 and 1851 and then Poof, she disappears and the only Helen/Ellen that turns up b 1831 Dawlish is Helen/Ellen Wellington.
In 1851 Dawlish 5 Queens street William Davis head mar 65 builder b Mamhead Mary Ann wife 60 b Teignmouth Helen Mary Davis dau, unm 20 b Dawlish
In 1841 she has been transcribed as Harlen Davis
1841 Dawlish William Davis carpenter 55 Mary 49 Hellen 10 Emma 9 Ann Baxter 70 ind Not born in county Emma Baxter 30 ind ditto
In 1861 Helen Mary’s mother , Mary turns up as a widow with occupation of Dressmaker! I am stumped with their marriage ..........
death; Ellen Mary Wellington bc 1831 , age at death; 64 June q 1895 Newton Abbot Vol 5b pg 72

re: Frederick Wellington bc 1864, London
death; Frederick Wellington bc 1864 , 21 years Mar q 1885 Islington , London Vol 1b pg 280
I wonder if he was married prior to dying as I see a marriage for a Frederick Wellington in 1884, to either: Helen Sarah Collett or Georgiana Harvey.
the also in 1881 I find; London Mary A Wellington widow 55 dressmaker b Dawlish Elizabeth dau 30 unm dressmaker (fits with dau Elizabeth 4months in 1851 census) Frederick son 17 wine ?? b London ........... so who is Frederick? In 1871 I find a Frederick Wellington who is the step son of John Baker 25 from suffolk who wife is Jane aged 26, who is born in DAWLISH! So who is Jane? arrghhhhhhhhhh will come back to this sometime LOL I want to find Mary Ann Edds Wellington all the way through.
Okay ....
Marriage; Jane Wellington = JOHN LEE BAKER june q 1869 Islington, London Vol 1b pg 426
So maybe Fred is grandson of Henry and Mary Ann Wellington
In 1861 there is a Jane Wellington, servant bc 1842 Dawlish ...maybe she fibbed a little on her age or the head of house didn't kno her age.
also from a previous post;
1851 13 Mill Row Dawlish Henry Wellington head mar 28 tailor b Dawlish Mary Ann wife, 26 b ditto Jane dau 6 b ditto......................... born 1845 which fits with Jane BAKER! Thomas son 4 b ditto James son 2 b ditto Elizabeth dau 4 months ......she is with her mum and Fred on the 1881 census!
so Fred is the Grandson! I wonder if this is why they all ended up in London.
deb
added .... 1881 Hackney 2 Robinson Rd, Bethnal Green John Lee Baker head mar 35 contractor's clerk b Suffolk Jane wife 36 b Dawlish
death John Lee Baker bc 1845 , 42years dec q1887 Islington 1b 283
2 possible deaths for Jane Baker prior to 1891
