Robert Arnold - Irish Convict

Hi All - am trying to find birth/baptism details for Robert Arnold - transported to Australia from Ireland in 1838.  Has place of trial as Donegal.  In 1838 his age was given as 20.  Hope someone can help.

Hi Ken,

There are no civil records for births in 1838 therefore it would need to be parish records you would be looking for.  You would need to firstly find out the parish in which he was born in order to then find out if any records exist for this date.
 
 I presume you have obtained the details you have from the
 'Ireland-Australia transportation database' of the National Archives?  I'm not sure what additional information it will hold but you can request a copy of the record:
Lastname:  ARNOLD
Firstname:  ROBERT
Document ref1:  TR 2, p 34

It would be worthwhile contacting the National Archives before making a request to see if they can advise what additional information the record holds such as birth or residence details.  There is an email address under contact details.
