Daniel Hardy Silcox was born in Somerset England, son of Daniel Silcock Sr. (b abt 1779, Wells) and Mary Chivers (b abt 1789), and he was grandson of Stephen Silcocks (b abt 1745, Rode Sommerset) and Betty Hardy (b abt 1744, Witshire). Daniel Hardy Silcox immigrated to the US, June 14, 1827. Many in the family were either in the Cloth/Clothier or the Carpentry fields.
I believe Betty Hardy was the daughter of George Hardy and Sarah Whatly. I believe Stephen Silcock was the son of John Silcock and grandson of Peter Silcock b bef 1672, North Bradley, Witshire) and Hester Adams (b Abt 1676, Rode Somerset).
I would appreciate any information about other family members or needed corrections to the above research. Ron

Correct... Daniel Hardy and two older brothers stayed in England for another year or two. Missing, in the ship log, are Daniel Hardy Silcox (b 1813) and older brothers John (b 1807) and Joseph (1809); Daniel Hardy and John appear in the 1835 Longworth's American Almanac, New-York Register, and City Directory and the Manhattan, New York City, New York Directory: 1839 thus they probably immigrated to US after 1827. Daniel Hardy and cousin Edward became very successful in a Charleston SC Furniture business. Several of Daniel's descendants gained wide recognition for their leadership and business abilities. We can find their names in books or journals that describe their prominence in the furniture business, in the military, as Chief of the US Forest Service, in cotton buying and exporting businesses, and in church leadership.
