If not, where would the next best place be to start research?

Hello,
I'm contacting you from the land down under.
I noticed in your list of "wanted surnames" - Bulman.
I have a Bullman (different spelling I know, but the way the old records were kept, it could be the same) in my family. My gt.grandmother was a Bullman who married a Thearle.
Does this come into your line? It was around 1863.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Haven't come across the surname Thearle at all - so far! Is the line you mention from Cumberland?

Hi, Thanks for the prompt response.
I honestly don't know, because so far I haven't left Australia.
I mean the family line.
I'm back to James Richard Thearle b. 19/2/1808 (if the family bible is correct), and he married Appolonia Bullman,(aka as
Amelia and sometimes Willhemina - we are not sure which, but Amelia seems to be the front runner at present.
James died 1900 at St. Marys aged 93 yrs. (If family bible is accurate he died 19/12/1900 aged 92yrs and 10 mths) - fastidious weren't they.
Amelia died 1903 aged 86yrs and 8 mths.
I believe there is confusion between his wife who I believe is Amelia, and her mother who I believe is Appelonia (but sometimes spelt differently). It's a bit confusing, but if I could find something about the family in the UK, then maybe I could starting coming forward from there.
Anyway, thanks again for the quick response. When I find out where they came from, I'll let you know.

Thanks for the information you did find. Actually the family bible I mentioned wasn't the Thearle family bible, but belonged to the family that Amelia married into - the Powells.
And I honestly believe Amelia may have started that bible to keep track of her seven children, 13 grandchildren, and I lost count of the great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
It's interesting you say that the forenames appear from Germany. I've always thought that, but was poo-pooed by my relations. (I mean the surname itself lends itself to a Germanic leaning, doesn't it?)
Amelia was actually born in Canterbury, NSW, Australia, so they must have come here before 1884.
Again, thanks for the information, I will just have to keep trying to find them all.
