Census lookup - MORRISON 1871

Hi everyone!

From the 1881 census i have the following 3 MORRISON families who all lived in Schoolwynd Street, Kilburnie, Ayr, Scotland

Hugh     - 27yrs - married
Barbara - 27yrs - married
Hugh     - 6yrs
Thomas - 5yrs
James F - 10mths


Hugh      - 48yrs - married
Mabel     - 50yrs - married
Alice       - 22yrs - unmarried
James F - 21yrs - unmarried
William   - 9yrs

John    - 27yrs - married
Helen   - 25yrs - married
Mary    - 5yrs
Marion - 2yrs
Jane    - (there's a dash where her age should be)

Am hoping some wonderful rootschatter can look up the 1871 census for me and hopefully find some link between all these families.

The first family i listed are the family i have a connection to

Any info will be much appreciated Smiley

I was assuming that Hugh in the first family i listed was the son of Hugh and Mabel in the second family and it seems my assumption is correct.

The only problem is the ages in the second family only increased by about 7 or 8 years from 1871 to 1881.

Would i be asking too much for you to find the families in 1991 - pretty please Smiley

Jane Morrison is age 3 months


also John Morrison was born Kilbirnie the others except Agnes were born in Ireland.
not sure where he is 1871 in  1891 he was born Monckton and born 1852 He is still in Schoolwynd Street

Looks like Alice married a Mackie and sons are visiting the Morrisons.

Perhaps this John doesn't fit into my immediate MORRISON family, particularly because all the children of Mabel and Hugh born around this time were born in Ireland and like you pointed out John is born in Ayrshire - he has got me a bit confused

On a slightly different note but talking about the same people - how hard is it to find a death in scotland?

Hugh - husband of Mabel MORRISON disappeared between 1891 and 1901 - i presume he died in this time - is it possible to find a death date / registration

also Hugh husband of Barbara disappeared between 1881 and 1891, again i'm presuming he died. In the 1891 census there is a 4 year old daughter Mary so that would mean he had to be alive in 1887ish (presuming he is the father)

Spent today putting all the families together. Its interesting to watch where people go from census to census, are kids still at home with their parents or have they gone off and got married and now have their own household.

I started another thread to do with another branch of the family in Scotland and someone pointed me to the scotsland people website - i have been busy on that one too. Didn't think to look for the deaths but i have some credits left so now i know what to use them on.

Thank you ever so much for your help. I'm in Australia and it's great to know there's wonderful people on the other side of the world who are happy to help. My family database has grown thanks to you Grin
