Reynolds is my maiden name and I know that part of the family came from the IOW.  My Father was born in 1895, son of George Henry Reynolds, who I believe was born on IOW, c 1860s.

As I haven't done any family history on my Father's side of the family, I don't know any more but would be very interested if you are able to help.

Florence, if you should start research then the local society's site is well worth a look.

Birth indexes for example include MMN from 1837!

Hello Wendypusey. My connection to the surname Downer is Stephen Day (M) Hannah Downer 5/12/1813 Whitwell I.O.W they had eight children. I have looked for Hannah's (B) and believe it is (C) 3/10/1790 Whitwell Father James Mother Jenny.
There are Downers in Ringwood Hampshire but I expect you know that.

I have several Downers who married into my direct line.  Seems to be the case on the Island taht several families all end up connected through marriage.
