marriage of William Garner & Sarah (?Butcher?) where did they go?
« on: Sunday 26 July 09 14:09 UTC (UK) »

I'm trying to locate the marriage of my4xgreat grandparents William Garner and Sarah. It seems likely though not certain that they married in Cambridgeshire. This is what I know about them so far:
William Garner born (according to 1841/51/61 census in Weeting, Norfolk c1790).
Sarah born (according to the same census returns in Newmarket, Suffolk c1790-95).
I have found baptisms in the Cambridgeshire Baptisms Index 1813-37 for children born to them in 1816 &1817 in Wicken, 1821 (2 children, one aged 2 yrs) in Swaffham Prior and in 1827 in Burwell. My 3xgreat gandmother Sarah was baptised in Methwold Norfolk in 1825 and according to the register they were resident in Methwold at the time. It also states that Sarah was "late Butcher" so I am assuming this was her maiden name.
By 1841 they seem to have settled in Waterbeach as they are there for all census returns.
I have searched for the marriage on the Norfolk Marriage Index but they do not appear there.
If anyone is in the Cambridge Archives looking at the transcript books I'd be very grateful if you could look in the index for me to see if there are any possibles and if so make a note of them for me.
(I will be checking Suffolk too.)  Smiley
Thanks
