See www.seanruad.com to find details of townlands and parishes in Ireland (be sure to change default setting from 'exact match' to search for part of a word).

Note: site seems to be down at the moment but just keep trying- should be okay soon.

how about - Ardvullane?

  Baroney : Clanwilliam
  Civil Parish : Bruis
  County : Tipperary South riding

it's about 50km south west of Thurles.  The name in Irish is Ard an Bhalláin (www.logainm.ie)

Ardleown doesn't sound right. The Ard bit is common in placenames (it signifies a hill or piece of high ground). There's an Ardbawn a few miles north west of Thurles.

Can you scan and post a photo of the original writing?
