Welcome to Rootschat!
can't see any reason for him to be registered anywhere but Redruth and there's no middle name showing up for him on the census. How about William Moore sept qtr 1874 Redruth vol 5c pg 233 although he could account for the one born 1875 in Gwithian on the 1881 census
Can't see in 1901 either. Do you have him in 1911? Did he move away from Cornwall?
The William Richard Moore registered St Austell is the one with parents Peter & Elizabeth, born & living Mevagissey in 1881 RG11/2304 folio 54 pg 33. By the looks of it, he marries Mabel Jane Mills march qtr 1908.
I can see 3 of William's sisters in Warwickshire in 1901
19 Bevington Rd, Aston Manor RG13/2836 folio 130 pg 2 Walter Gibbs head mar 29 soldier private sec. Duke of Cornwall LI b. Birmingham Minnie wife 28 b. Redruth Walter son 2 b. Birmingham William Cocks boarder 29 auctioneer's clerk b. Redruth Martha Moore relative 29 pen slitter(?) b. Redruth Mabel Moore relative 18 pen slitter b. Redruth
marriage ref Walter Gibbs dec qtr 1896 Bodmin vol 5c pg 131 with Minnie Moore on the same page
Could William have joined the army?

Thank you so much for this information. I cant believe i have been looking for this information for so long and it took you minutes to send it to me.
I think his first wife died in 1913 in Aston, Warwickshire. Yes you are right about the sisters in Warwickshire. I know William was in Birmingham in 1921 as he married Clara Henda Reed (maiden name Rogers). Yes he did go into the army - i have just been sent an e.mail which says he was in France on the 26/5/1915. I know he was in the Army Veterinary Corp. But i cant find him on the 1901 or 1911 census.
Again many thanks for your help.
Mary

he was quite likely out of the UK for the 1901 census - time of the Boer War. I'm not sure that birth reg is his as it could be for the William in Gwithian on the 1881 census. All the other children were registered so it's a little odd if he wasn't. If Minnie and Ellen were twins, Minnie was registered as Mary Emily - they're on the same page number. If you're trying to confirm maiden name of mother, you could order a birth cert for one of the other children.
This marriage looks a possible Joseph Moore march qtr 1861 Redruth vol 5c pg 376 with Elizabeth Reynolds on the same page Followed by the birth reg of first child James Henry Moore june qttr 1861 Redruth vol 5c pg 286 the twins were registered march qtr 1872 Redruth vol 5c pg 252
Going from a stable boy to the Army Veterinary Corps makes sense, plenty of horses to look after.

Hi
Joseph Moore was married to Elizabeth Reynolds. William Richard Moore married Mabel Jane Mills 1908 St Austell Cornwall but i wanted to know where he was 1901 and 1911. Mabel died 1913 Aston Warwickshire. I thought you had found her on your last message but i think that is Williams sister Mabel b.1883 Redruth, Cornwall. The next time i know where he was for sure is April 1921 when he married Clara Henda Reed - nee Rogers. I know he was in the Army Veterinary Corp in France on 26th May 1915 but i dont know for how long. Any ideas where i can go from here please?
Many thanks for all the help you have given to me.
Mary

the William Richard Moore who married in the registration district of St Austell isn't yours. He is the one whose birth is registered St Austell march qtr 1877 and is to found in Mevagissey with parents Peter & Elizabeth. He is still at school on the 1891 census, a farm labourer in 1901 at home with his parents under the name of Richard RG13/2213 folio 36 pg 5.
The William born Redruth with parents Joseph & Elizabeth is a different person. He is a stable boy in 1891 and has sisters Mabel, Martha & Minnie and isn't to be found (so far) in 1901.
Which one of the 2 is your relative?
We cannot offer look-ups on the 1911 census as it infringes copyright.

have you tried to find out about his time in veterinary corps? The Armed Forces board might be able to help?
