Hello
Can anyone help me with a baptism look up for Sutton cum Lound 1851- 1861 for Charles HERRING please?
I have tracked him on Census 1861 - 1911, and his place of birth and age does vary a bit.
1861 aged 6 b Lound , mother Elizabeth 1871 aged 17 farmers boy b Lound 1881 aged 28 wood sawyer b Clown 1891 aged 40 coal miner b Lound 1901 aged 48 coal miner b Sutton 1911 aged 60 coal carter b Lound
Wondering of the Clown is a mis-hearing of Lound?
Nearest birth I can find on free BMD is
Births Jun 1855 Herring Charles E Retford 7b/7
Any advice welcome
Thank you

Hi Robin Hood
Yes I'd like the dates please.
The 1861 Census does confirm these children, Elizabeth is shown as married, an ag labs wife . 1851 she is a millers wife, but no husband is shown on either census. A mystery !
Thank you.

Hi Robin Hood
Thank you for the baptisms.
I had also found the details you mention re George the miller. The problem is that on Charles' marriage cert in 1879 the father is James HERRING deceased, a farmer.
I was hoping a baptism entry might clarify things, but looks like it's back to the drawing board on this one
Many thanks for your time
