Hanley/Handley family New Windsor Berkshire
« on: Wednesday 13 May 09 16:54 UTC (UK) »

Hi all

As a newbie i hope you will be patient with me  Grin I am trying to find out more regarding Patrick Handley born c1813 and his son Daniel Handley born 1843c both in Ireland. Daniel married Ann/Hannah Cox at St Giles, i think thats a parish, but it was a Roman Catholic wedding. Question i would like answered is Daniel Handley the same Daniel that was a wine merchant/vitualler in New Windsor or a relation?

Can anyone also tell me Richard Cox's (ann's father) first wifes name. I have found 3 of the wifes but not the first one.
Richard was  born c1810 in Stoke, Buckinghamshire, but lived and worked in Peascod Street, New Windsor as a butcher all his married lives.
His first married must have preceded 1831 or around that date... any help would be very gratefully received. Thanks  Roll Eyes

Hi and welcome to Rootschat

Marriage March qtr 1867

Daniel Hanley (not Handley) to Anne Cox St Giles 1B 590

The 1871 for St Andrews Holborn shows his occupation as Tailor and surname on image is Hanley

Daniel Hanley 30  b Ireland occ tailor
Anne  23  b Windsor Berks
Daniel  1 week  b Middlesex St Andrews Holborn
John  1   b Middlesex St Andrews Holborn
Margaret Luther 55  servant - monthly nurse b Ireland
RG10 Piece 372 Folio 53 Page 36

I haven't researched beyond the 1871 or the Cox side in case it is a different Daniel

Thank you CaroleW for your welcome and help. I will add those facts to my "knowledge tree" and have a peek around the census's in case i can see anymore regarding Daniel and Ann's children. Any idea what a monthly nurse is? a nurse for a month or something different? Thanks again. Smiley
