Buriel/Death for Sheffield Please
« on: Monday 21 February 05 21:51 UTC (UK) »

I am looking for the death of William Woodruff, in Sheffield I think. He was alive in 1893 on death of his wife. Have searched 1837 online from 1891-1916 and there is nothing showing in Sheffield.

He was born c 1833 in Glossop Derbyshire, and the only W. Woodruff showing on 1901 says he was born in Sheffield, but the age is correct.

Could some kind person who has these registers look for me, perhaps after 1916 please.

Regards,

Calmar

Have you any idea how old this bloke is?  I can only find I to date

William Woodruff Aged 91  17 May 1892  Christ Church Fulwood

Don't forget Ecclesall Bierlow covers a large part ofSheffield at this date. Do you know where they lived?

Hi Catswiskers,

Yes that is the only one I can find but I would say that it is too old for my W. Woodruff. He was born c 1833/38. He was living at Burnt Tree Lane, Sheffield in 1893 when he was present at death of his wife. He is also there on 1891 census. I wondered if it was a mistranscription but then realised that it was before his wife died.

I was wondering if he lived after 1916 but that would put him at a good age!!

Can you still help me please. Would be ever so grateful if you could. Smiley

A thought has just occured (I have them occasionally)
Can you give me the exact date of his wife. Odds are he's in the same plot but it may not be on the lists I have but the former death will be

 ;)Hi Catswhiskers,

Know what you mean about the ideas!! And what a good one it was too.

Mary Woodruff, wife of William Woodruff, died on 13th May 1893 at 65 Burnt Tree Lane, Sheffield. He was present at death, widower of deceased. She was 51 years old.

Here's hoping you can find them, but it would be good to know where she was buried too.

Kind regards,

Calmar.
