East Sussex Record Office, Lewes
« on: Thursday 14 May 09 12:35 BST (UK) »

Hi,

Might be a long shot, but can anyone please look at some records for me?

The info I'm after is at the East Sussex Record Office in Lewes.

Eastbourne Union Workhouse - they have a load of records regarding minutes and other info. The year I'm looking at is 1866. The surname is COLABEEN.

I know that Charles Colabeen was born here on the 19th January 1866, mother Lucy Colabeen, father unknown. I just want to see if there is any other info regarding these people or this name.

Any help would be very much appreciated - it's a very rare name with lots of different spellings. However, this is how it's spelt on the birth cert.

Thankyou!
Grin

Hi,

Not sure I'll get anywhere with the previous entry, but would like to try to find out more about the following, if any kind souls can help me.

I'm looking for info about CAROLINE WARR who died in the Brighton County Borough Mental Hospital on the 5th September 1932. I'm trying to see when she was admitted and any other information about her stay there. I know the Record Office have info on the hospital.

Can anyone help please?

East Sussex Records Office is closed from 10th - 31st August for maintenance works

I don't know if the records you want will be available because of the 100 year rule
although the DPA stops once you have died, this is something you will have to ask the staff directly about

Thanks very much for that info - I was thinking the 100 year rule might get in the way.
