Hi,
Could anyone help me with 1851 census for Henry Ambrose b. Liverpool and his wife Ellen Highton b. 1783.
I have 1841 census showing as follows: Bradford Street, Manchester Henry Ambrose 66 - Shopkeeper Ellen 58 John 17 Elizabeth 25 - All born in same County
In the process I am trying to find Henry and Ellen's deaths. I am considering a death for Henry in 1842 at Manchester

Looking at LancashireBMD shows only one marriage for a John Ambrose before 1851, could this be him?
John Ambrose to Sarah Ellison at Prestwich St Mary in 1845

As neither Henry nor Ellen appeared clearly in the index, what I was showing you was who I believed to be the son of the family - it often tends to be worth checking out the children in case they have the parents living with them. This eliminates one avenue of research that I wasn't aware whether you had already gone down, you hadn't told us this.
In this case sorry I couldn't magic up Henry and Ellen.

MaryA,
Yes, I did have that census information for 1851 in regard to Henry & Ellen's son, I see what you mean though, they often were living with family members, particularly after the death of one of the partners.
Thank you for your efforts anyway MaryA, really appreciated
regards
