Heming/Hemming/Hemmings
« on: Thursday 14 May 09 21:29 UTC (UK) »

Hello all

I am trying to research my Hemmings line .. we are from Warwickshire and i have taken the line back to Fullbrook Oxfordshire with a Benjamin Heming 1736c, although he and an unknown wife had many children i really do not know much about the Oxford side of the Hemmings family. Can anyone enlighten me as to their occupations and way of life. I am assuming they were farm labourers etc.

I have found on the web a Squire of Bentley Manor Warwickshire (female) who inherited the title from her husband. She was a Hemmings and for the life of me i cannot tie her in with my warwickshire side. Any help would be appreciated.

Can't see Benjamin's baptism at Fulbrook, but there are three possible marriages (in 1758, 1776 and - as a widower - in 1786).  Do you have the names/baptism years of his children?

However, the Fulbrook registers give no indication of occupation in any of the entries in the 1700s.

Hi Pennie

I can only be sure of one of the children.. John Heming (or whichever way they spell it in those days) b1760 bap. 1 Jul 1760 and married Mary Beale 25 SEP 1785  Fulbrook, Oxford.........

would you believe it.. i have double checked on IGI and found a Mary Hathaway as Benjamins wife!!! How accurate is this do you think?

From Oxfordshire  Marriage Index Smiley

14 Dec 1758 Mary Hathaway to Benjamin Heming at Fulbrook

Looks like the marriage is correct Smiley
