Thanks Carol and Isobel for the information, i do have some of the census returns. Does anyone know if the Peasley Hill colliery houses are still standing? What pit did the families of those houses work? Is Collier's Rest still standing?
Hi Daisy - just like the Cross Keys (Dead Poets) the Colliers Rest is still standing - although I seem to remember it being the Miners Rest now, but maybe I'm wrong about that.
Mike
EDIT - Whoops - I was thinking of the Hunters Arms. Sorry about that. It looks like what was the Colliers Rest is now Kilbourne Kennels.
