Where were they both born?
When did they marry?
Did they have any children born before 1911 - if so - have you tried searching using their names

Assuming the 1913 birth is of Marjorie, although the registration district was Ashton, this covered several sub-districts which are identified on CheshireBMD - which records the birth as in the sub-district of Newton & Godley. Ashton was Lancashire; Newton was Cheshire, so it may be that although they were from Lancashire & married at Ashton in 1907 they were in Cheshire in 1911.

Hello all. I am waiting for Birth certs but as I live in Cyprus it takes 3-4 weeks for them to get here. Henry Aspinall was born in 1882 I think. The record I have found says Ashton (I hope this is right as this is one of the certs I have applied for) Betsy Young Simpson was born in 1880. They married at Rosemount in Newton on 13 March 1907 (I have this cert) Marjorie was their only child and she was born in 1913 in Newton, Ashton under Lyne. I have looked on 1911 in both Lancashire and Cheshire with no results. I must admit the differences in county are driving me round the bend. No matter how many times I go back and forward to Genuiki, I still can`t get to grips with where places are so looking on the 1911 census, I have no idea how far it is to anywhere else that might be mentioned. I keep telling myself that this is not because I am stupid, but because my brain is full of other very important facts and is therefore full

Hi Dougalgeorge - they did like to confuse with registration districts crossing county boundaries.
The Ashton under Lyne registration district was a district that at this time covered parts of Lancashire & parts of Cheshire - full list on this link, which handily identifies the sub-districts and the county fro each bit: http://www.ukbmd.org.uk/genuki/reg/districts/ashton%20under%20lyne.html
AUL is now part of Tameside for local government & registration - Tameside is covered on the local CheshireBMD site including the bits (like AUL itself) that were Lancashire (= more confusion, I know). If you search on there for Henry's birth I think it will the one shown as in Mottram sub-district - in Cheshire. LancashireBMD gives Betsy's birth as in the Spotland sub-district http://www.cheshirebmd.org.uk/ http://www.lancashirebmd.org.uk/
None of this really gets us anywhere with 1911 though - I've tried a few guesses & wildcards - but nothing seems too likely. They're frustrating aren't they!

Hello again I think Henry`s occupation was `ghost` cos he doesn`t seem to exist anywhere If I hadn`t seen him with my own eyes, I would think he was a figment of somebody`s imagination. According to my Mum, he lived in the Manchester area with Betsy around 1964 when I was born. I was born in the July and my Nan (Marjorie Aspinall ) was going down to see them and my Mum was going to take me to show me off but Betsy died soon after. So I have been looking for her death in late 1964. Mum says she thinks she died in Sale. Then I remember G Grandad Henry when I was a child, I don`t know if he lived with my Nan in Newcastle upon Tyne or just visited but I remember him sitting in the big armchair, but he must have died before 1970.
I have arranged with my Mum for her to get the certs out tomorrow and I am going to phone her, and she ain`t putting that phone down till I get every ounce of info from her. Plus her sister is visiting me in 2 weeks time and she knows she will be getting a grilling (it`s the price she has to pay for 2 weeks bed and board in the sun !!!) I have been to Nissi Beach and it`s still beautiful but very commercialized. We tend to go in November when there`s nobody there but the water is still lovely and warm. Well, 1911 here I come again.... Thanks for looking for the stuff for me, it`s much appreciated.

Hello to everybody and I hope you are all having a lovely Sunday.
Here we are, DEFINITE facts as they are on the certs that my poor harassed Mum has.
Henry Aspinall, born 11/4/1882 at Hill End, Mottram. father David Aspinall, mother Sarah Aspinall nee Hazeldine. Death- 21/11/1968, aged 86, Newcastle upon Tyne (at my Nan`s house)
Betsy Young Simpson, born 27/6/1880 (registered on 7/8/1880) father Greg, Spotland is mentioned, but the cert is in a bad state. Death- 8/11/1964, aged 84, 19 Manor Avenue, Sale
They married on 13/3/1907 at Rosemount Chapel, Henry was an iron turner of 56 Bennett Rd, Newton, and Betsy was a cotton weaver of 219 Dukinfield Rd, Newton. Henry`s father was David Aspinall and he was a labourer at boiler works, and Betsy`s father Greg Simpson was deceased but had been a boiler maker journeyman. The witnesses were Greg Simpson (Betsy`s brother) and May Wild.
Marjorie Aspinall (my Nan) was born on 29/8/1913 (no cert) baptised 12/10/1913 at Rosemount, Newton and Hyde circuit. Address- 59 Dukinfield Rd. father`s occupation- engineer.
So all this takes me no nearer to finding them on the 1911 census. But I will keep trying, watch this space !!!!

Have you considered address searches for either 59 or 219 Dukinfield Road? You need to put Dukinfield Road in the street, Lancashire in the county and Newton in the residential place field. Both addresses are listed - whether they'd got to 59 by the time of the census though....
