Well done Carol, it does look a good match for Caroline and Henry.
Henry is on the IGI with parents John and Caroline Owens born 9 Feb 1854.
Do you think Caroline may have married John Willis by 1861 and that John Owens may have died?

Are you saying that caroline and henry, or harry!!! Were born to john owens, and caroline owens. Then john owens died, and caroline remarried john willis and that is why i can't seem to find a birth record on either of caroline or henry willis? ?
Thanks Sifer

Thanks Sifer At the moment this is just a supposition. What would help if there was a death record of a John Owens between 1853 and 1861. Then to find a marriage of Caroline to John Willis after that death date.

Thanks Sifer I was more thinking along the lines of him being the same chap. Either changing his nmae for some reason- hence why we can't find the kids births. Or maybe the enumerator made a mistake. Or perhaps Owen/s was Caroline's maiden name and the head of the house told the enumerator that was the whole family's name.
More research necessary..........1841 census to look for next

It would be unusual if she chose a chap with the same christian name ,born in the same place as John Willis and doing the same job!
But not impossible of course.
I've had no definite luck with the 1841- maybe this girl didn't actually ever get married and just lived with John (either mark one or mark two )
Not sure where we can go with this one-you might have to put it on the back burner for now-and come back later, unless anyone else has any suggestions?

I'm afraid I don't know where to go next either but.... to put the proverbial cat amongst the pigeons in 1961 birth registered, Strand, John Owen Willis, died 1961 Strand, Middlesex.
Maybe John's middle name was Owen and this is all the enumerator wrote down as it does sound like a surname.
