Hello Jan
Thank you for doing that lookup for me. Very good of you.
Surprised that there is no extra info.
Good to confirm that they married in Linch and not Linchmere.
Thanks again.

Hi Ravelin
Sadly the earlier the record the less information you will find - witnesses weren't included in the registers until 1754.

Yes that right Jan. Earlier the records the less info generally.
I was surprised because a fellow rootschatter who found the marriage on the Sussex Marriage CD indicated that there was extra info for the marriage.
I am very happy to have found this marriage anyway. It means i can begin tracing the Howick line in the 1600's - 1700's in this area of Sussex.

Hi jan
How odd, my transcript came from a CD, the PRTS registers for Cowfold.
Thanks for looking, I shall have to try and investigate that one some more. It was a curious one, the fact that it mentioned suicide beside Alice's name.

It is very odd - I think I shall have to have another squint, the registers were very faint and maybe what looked like June was Jan, which would make more sense! There weren't many, so I'll see if I can see anything next week. I must admit to not being very good with 16th century writing

Hi Jan,
Excellent help, as always - thank you.
Two marriages on the same day merged into one by the transcriber who thereby got both of 'em wrong - that's something I didn't expect, but it solves the problem wonderfully. And the brother & sister marrying sister & brother scenario looks promising - something for me to investigate.
Best wishes, Stovepipe

I usually find it easier to read upside down and squinting sideways not easy is it!!!

Hi Ravelin
Just re-read your request - I looked at the fiche of original parish registers not the Bishop's Transcripts as you had asked. Sorry.
The BT are only available on microfilm or by ordering up the original documents which I don't do to keep things straight forward and maximise the number of look-ups I can do. The mention of transcripts at the start of thread refers only to various paper transcripts done of some years for some parishes. Sorry for the confusion - I shall add "not Bishop's Transcripts" when I post my next offer

Hello Jan
Don't worry about not looking at the Bishops Transcripts for Linch or Linchmere. This ancestry mularky can get very confusing at times. An easy mistake to be made.
It is very good of you to do these lookup offers in the first place.
Thanks for your help.

Hello Jan
Thanks for the information on Upper Beeding Potter family. This does seem to confirm that they moved to another Parish and could possibly be my ancestors in Lewes.
Your help is much appreciated.
